Tea Infuser Pots

How to make cup of tea
The better quality of your water, your tea will taste better. We treccomend Filtered or bottled water as the best options. If you’re pouring from the tap, allow the cold water to stand for half a minute or so
Warm up the pot.
To prevent heat loss in the tea, using a ceramic or porcelain tea pot, warm it up. The best way is to pour some boiled water in, and let it stand for a couple of minutes.
Porcelain pots are the best for retaining heat.
Put the tea in your infuser, or directly in the tea pot. Putting the tea in directly allows the release of extra flavour. Use one heaped teaspoon per cup of tea, unless you have a specialist tea that has other instructions. The exact amount of tea you should use can depend on the type and strength of the tea, and own preferences, so you may not get it right first time.
If using tea bags, you don’t need to worry about the proportions as they will be 1 bag per cup ! Buy fresh tea bags where possible, as popular brands are nowhere near as good in quality, you’ll notice the difference.
Pour on your boiled water. The nice bit, pour you measured amount of boiled water over your tea , tea bags, remembering to stick to your measurements. Water temperature vary dependant on your type of tea. You should find instructions on this on your tea packet.
- white or green teas (full leaf), well below boiling (170-185 F or 76-85 C) When the water boils, turn off the heat and let the water cool for 30 seconds for white tea and 60 seconds for green tea before pouring it over the leaves[
- oolongs (full leaf) (185-210 F or 85-98 C
- black teas (full leaf), a rolling boil (212 F or 100 C). Don’t steep black tea with water that is not hot enough, which preventsactive substances in the black tea from developing properly
- pu-erhs, full rolling boil (212 F or 100 C).
- tea bags, don’tallow the water to boil. Tea bags often have tea dust and fannings ( small tea particles)
Let steep. Cover teapot with the tea cozy to keep the heat in. Different teas require different steeping times. Check your packet for instructionsOn the whole, whole-leaf tea should be steeped for a longer time broken-leaf tea. If there aren’t any instructions, steep for a couple of minutes, then taste it regulalrly until it’s to your liking. If you are using the method of gong-fu brewing to make multi tea infusions, steep for less time, about 30 to 60 seconds. For normal tea brewing, you’ll need to stepp for a while longer. As follows:
- green teas 2-3 minutes, oolong teas 4-7 minutes, black teas 3-5 minutes
Empty the leaves from the pot and pour the tea into another container.
Infuse again. To get the most out of your tea, you can infuse it again.
Repeat the above steps, but each time increase the steeping time, as aboviously there’s not as much ‘goodness’ in the leaves and it will take longer to get the best of it out.
Serve your tea.
Serve it with with milk, sugar or lemon or honey, whatever your preference. Don’t serve the tea with lemon and milk as this will cause the milk to curdle. If you use milk in your tea, it’s preferable to put the milk in first, although a lot of people don’t like to do this.
When finished your remaining leaf tea will can be used as a room scent !
